Self-Directed Options Education Resources

OK, so you came to this page because you're the strong, silent type that figures that they can learn everything that you need to know about trading options from a book or a website. While I think that it's possible in theory to do this, especially if you're patient, disciplined, bright, and motivated....I would really suggest that you find a mentor to help you in your quest. Dig around and find someone who has successfully been buying and selling options in the Market, and who is willing to take you under their wing for a while. This speeds up the process tremendously.

If you're like most, then you don't even know what you don't know right now! Let me start by breaking things down and giving some guidance from the top down. There are four major educational gaps that you need to fill before even considering trading Options with the Iron Condor:

Options Made Easy by Guy Cohen provides a really clear, visual text for how Options are traded, and actually covers all four "education gaps" listed above in the text. An essential text if you're just starting out.
The pamphlet entitled "Characteristics and Risks of Standardized Options" is a must-read for any trader considering an Options trade. It is available at this link for free.
Investopedia.com is a free website that always seems to have a specific answer to an Options-related question that I'm looking for.
